PT Socfin Indonesia are committed and take part in preserving the environment by developing the sustainable palm oil. Furthermore, PT Socfindo commitment to participate in complying the principles and criteria of the RSPO, ISPO and ISCC system.

RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) is a non-profit organization that unites stakeholders from the 7 sectors of the palm oil industry: oil palm producers, processors or traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks/investors, and environmental and social non-governmental organisations (NGOs), to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil. PT Socfin Indonesia is a member of the RSPO (membership number : 1-0017-04-000-00 since December 07, 2004) and is committed to full compliance with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil Principles and Criteria (RSPO P&C). Up to year 2015, all of oil palm estates PT Socfindo have obtained the RSPO certificate. 

In addition to implement the RSPO system, PT Socfindo also implement another sustainable system, such as ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) and ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). 

ISPO is a policy which is mandatory from the Government of Indonesia in this case the Ministry of Agriculture that intends to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil in the world market. This participation also to preserve the environment of oil palm plantations to meet the commitment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as well as pay attention to environmental issues. To implement the system, PT Socfindo has refers entirely to the Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 11 / Permentan / OT.140 / 3/2015 about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Certification System (ISPO). In this process (ISPO certification), PT Socfindo has been audited by ISPO auditors for all of the oil palm plantation. Today, there are 5 estates have received the certificate of ISPO, such as Mata Pao, Bangun Bandar, Land Lute, Sungai Liput and Lae Butar estates.
 
Additionally, PT Socfindo also implement ISCC systems. ISCC is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions. ISCC certification can be applied to meet legal requirements in the bioenergy markets as well as to demonstrate the sustainability and traceability of feedstock in the food, feed and chemical industries.
 
The objective of applying the ISCC systems in PT Socfindo is to ensure the business acquire the international recognition as an entity of plantations which preserve the environmental value, reducing of greenhouse gas, sustainable land management, protecting natural habitat and social sustainability. Up to this year, there are four estates have obtained the certificate of ISCC such as: Mata Pao, Bangun Bandar, Seunagan and Lae Butar.

All of sustainability certification system has implemented by PT Socfindo with integrating the Socfindo Management System ( ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 ).

 

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT RECERTIFICATION OF RSPO

PT Socfin Indonesia – Tanah Gambus Palm Oil Mill ( Batubara District ) and Bangun Bandar Palm Oil Mill ( Serdang Bedagai District), North Sumatera Province has applied to PT TUV Rheinland Indonesia for re-certification assessment of one of their holdings against the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil Principles and Criteria, Generic Standard year 2013, and Supply Chain Standard year 2014. 
 
The re-certification assessment shall be carried out by a qualified team of auditors to assess legal, environmental, economical, safety and social aspects as covered by the RSPO P&C as scheduled to commence from August 01 to 06, 2016. According to RSPO requirements, the re-certification of RSPO assesment process need to be announced widely through the corporate official website.
